Guiding Area: Tokyo, Greater Tokyo

Background

Born and raised in Fukuoka-city, 900 km west of Tokyo and have been living in Tokyo for 30 years now. Lived in Boston, USA for my master’s degree in communication for the period from 1994 through 1997. Visited more than 30 countries while working for global healthcare companies and an international non-profit organization specialized in women’s health in developing countries.

Specialties and Hobbies

  • Love traveling within the country and abroad
  • A long-time fan and theater-goer of Kabuki, Bunraku, and Noh, Japanese traditional performing arts.
  • A novice learner of “Utai,” chanting of texts/songs for Noh plays.
  • Enjoy working on my Japanese paintings, wearing Kimonos, and short trekking in the forests and mountains in the greater Kanto region.

Message

While traveling can bring the extraordinary and exotic in your life, meeting the locals has often been the most interesting part of my travel experiences. When showing you around the town, I would like to help you connect with everyday lives of the people in Tokyo wherever possible. I hope you will find both the difference and similarity between Japanese culture and that of your own country amusing.
