Tsukiji Market & Tokyo Highlights 4 Hours [Tsukiji Fish Market, Asakusa]

I'm going to start with rating the tour, tour guide, and the value of the East Tokyo Tour as 5 stars out of a possible 5 stars. So if you want the best tour of this part of Tokyo, you don't need to read any further. Just book the tour! The tour is perfect for the first time or repeat visitors.
I loved the tour for many reasons. Let's start with the guide. Yuri was nothing short of amazing. As an American who only speaks English, I could understand every thing she was explaining. Her knowledge of the fish market and temple was immense. She took the time to explain and answer any question I had. I particularly will always remember Yuri telling me how to prepare and purify myself before entering the temple and how to make sure the God would be able to find me to answer my prayer.
I felt entirely safe! I knew with Yuri by my side there was no way I could get lost in one of the largest cities in the world. I was able not to just see the sights but also to experience them as a native and not as a tourist. She also gave instructions on how to fit in better. For instance, she explained that I should stand on the left side of the escalators rather than the right side as in America. I feel that I learned more and experienced more of Tokyo than I would have in a group tour.
I loved the tour because it wasn't hurried or rushed. I could spend as much time as I wanted at each site. I could take time to say a prayer or two or shop in any of the shops within the shrine. If I hadn't pigged out the night before we would have stopped for a bite at one of the many small snack bars in the outer market.
Since, we had a little extra time, Yuri suggested that we take the subway to a quiet residential area of Tokyo that she knew that had a lot of small shops So, I could see how ordinary Japanese people lived. In some ways that turned out to be one of the most interesting things of the tour.
That in and of itself points out the true value of the walking tour. Nothing was set in stone and I found that I could spend as much or as little at any place or even make changes, unlike options with group tours.
I feel like I left Tokyo having made a friend.
